The Wait is Finally Over

"An Arkadelphia native, Jody Evans has written music for such artists as Dwight Yoakam and was a finalist on the 2005 Nashville Star season. With his Rockabilly influences and professional experience, Jody performs a variety of music from reinvented classics, rockabilly and several originals. Jody always gives an electrifying show that will leave crowds wanting more."

Learning to play music from an "Ed Sullivan Show" video of Buddy Holly and the instruction of friend Nathan Greer, Jody, an Arkadelphia native, picked up his 1966 Fender Mustang guitar at age 15. Taking the stylings of his musical influences, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Hank Williams, Marshall Crenshaw, and Dwight Yoakam, Jody made his own stamp on Rockabilly music. Jody, an Arkadelphia police officer, has gained several large opportunities in his nearly 30 years of music.
In 1994, Jody and his band, “The Silver Crickets,” were invited to play the Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Contest in Memphis, Tennessee where Memphis’ CBS-TV affiliate WREG 3 aired the contest as “Mid-South Talent Revue.” Sun Studio owner Gary Hardy happened across Jody Evans and The Silver Crickets after watching the show. Hardy contacted Jody and gave him the opportunity to record where Elvis Presley, his inspiration, did.

As a result of his Sun recordings, Pete Anderson, producer and lead guitarist for Dwight Yoakam, contacted Jody in 2001 to record on his album called “A Country West of Nashville” at Little Dog Records in Burbank, California. At the time, Dwight Yoakam visited the studio to finish vocals for the “South of Heaven, West of Hell” movie soundtrack where Jody met Dwight. Later that year, Dwight recorded one of Jody's originals, “Sittin’ Pretty,” and performed it live on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
After an open audition at the Electric Cowboy in Little Rock, AR and several preliminaries, Jody made his way onto USA Network's “Nashville Star” in 2005. Jody advanced in “Nashville Star” as a finalist and became the second-runner up.

Jody has performed in venues such as the original “Grand Ole Opry” at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio, Shreveport Municipal Auditorium (home of the "Louisiana Hayride") in Shreveport, LA, Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, AR, Robinson Center Music Hall in Little Rock, AR and more. He has experience playing guitar, bass guitar, bass fiddle and piano. Jody has recorded under 706 Records, Little Dog Records and Universal South Records.

Currently, Jody is in post-production of his newest all-original album, "Good Sweet Rockin"" and is anxious to share it with his fans, Old and New.

As previously stated, with his Rockabilly influences and professional experience, Jody performs a variety of music from reinvented classics, rockabilly and a plethora of originals. Jody always gives an electrifying show that will leave crowds wanting more.
